McKay's New Bed

Mid-March Jordan 'began construction' on a bed for McKay. It is part of a master plan for a set of bunk beds for the boys. Between him working nights and it being tax season (meaning we stay home on Saturday or whatever day Jordan has off... in this case Monday Morning) he was able to work on it a lot.

Shortly after this picture was taken the local safety inspector (me) demanded that he wear safety glasses and get a push stick. We'd like to keep all our fingers and eyes intact!

McKay (thankfully) kept his distance when Jordan was using the saw. He was SO EXCITED for his new bed and very anxious to be out in the garage building his bed with Jordan.

It went together quickly and both Jordan and McKay enjoyed spending hours playing in the garage.

Jordan was thrilled to be able to use his tools and to have a good excuse to purchase some new tools.

McKay was also thrilled to use his tools. :)

I love this!

Helping

Keeping Daddy entertained

The sanding and staining took the longest and McKay wasn't as interested in those steps. Neither was Jordan. Neither was I for that matter. Everything in the garage had dust on it!

Pretty wood!

Hours and hours later...

the bed was ready to be set up in McKay's bedroom. He was one excited little boy!

Max didn't miss much of the set-up.

Done!

Testing it out...

Success!

Jordan learned a lot on this project so hopefully when he makes the bed for Max it will go even more smoothly. Jordan had a lot of fun building the bed and is trying to decide what to build next!

Happy Father's Day!

We were (read: I was) too excited to wait until after church to give Daddy his presents so we gave them to him before we went.

McKay did a couple of crafts for Jordan. One is a heart and says 'I (heart) Dad' with McKay's picture on it and the other is a tie. Jordan didn't know what the tie was which is why he is holding it sideways. I decided I needed to trim some of the edges to make it look more like a tie. McKay cut up all the little pieces of construction paper and glued everything on. He also got Daddy a 3ft by 6 ft BIG beach towel.

Maxwell got Daddy a new water bottle since he accidentally broke the lid on his other one when he 'dropped' it on the tile floor. Max seems to like the noise things make when they hit the floor. Either that or he just likes to throw things, we're not sure which. And yes, Jordan really is very happy to have a new water bottle, he isn't acting. :)

I had the boys pose with Daddy after church for some pictures of all of them matching. McKay made the necklace Jordan is wearing in his Sunbeam class. EVERYTHING McKay did that day was for Daddy whether it was putting beads on a string or the paper he colored in sacrament meeting. He is a sweet boy.

I gave Jordan a photo book of his Grand Canyon hike and a photo book of our cruise we went on in January. Now if McKay would just look at the camera for a picture...

My three handsome boys!

We had Italian crusted Tilapia, brown rice, vegetables and a chocolate 4-layer dessert for dinner. And Jordan took a much-needed and well-deserved nap while McKay and I prepared it. :)

McKay sang with the primary (this time he knew all the words so he sang instead of just humming like he did on Mothers day when he didn't know ALL the words.) and I think that was really one of the sweetest parts of the day. Especially his little clam-shell wave to Jordan. :)

Prayers

McKay's loves saying his prayers all by himself. My favorite part tonight was: 'Please bless Dustin in Peru he will drive safely home'. :)

He never forgets President Thomas S. Monson, Nana Papa Moser, and Nanna Papa, Dustin, David, Chris and Chantelle McCleve. He almost never forgets Daddy Mommy, McKay and Maxwell (maswa).

After each time he says his prayers he gets a funny/excited look on his face and gives Jordan and I 'five' at the same time over and over again, just like we did the first time he said his prayers alone.

Another recent favorite is when McKay tells me he 'feels good inside' after he does something nice for one of us. I love it!!

Things To Remember

McKay is 3 1/2 and looking forward to his birthday on July 17th.

Who needs a shredder??

Take my picture too Mommy!

McKay loves 'to get lots of exercise running'.

McKay looooovvves to get balloons at the grocery store.

McKay is giving daddy 'presents' while he is sleeping. Surprise! :)

McKay put his pajamas on upside down. Yes, the neck is very stretched out.

McKay totally loved hunting Easter eggs.

McKay loves to play.

When McKay makes his own sandwich I think more peanut butter ends up in his mouth than on the sandwich.

When McKay is gone with Jordan he 'misses Max'.

Striking poses for Daddy.

McKay's job is to put the silverware away. He was too busy to LOOK at the camera. :)

Working in his workbook. McKay L.O.V.E.S. to learn.

McKay's friends wanted to watch the show too.

5-26-11
McKay recognizes the word 'and' and insists on reading all the 'and's when we read scriptures. He also recognizes several other short words.

5-24-11
Today at enrichment I was asked by a sister who has substituted for McKay's sunbeam class 'where did he come from?? He is an angel child! I have never seen such a well-behaved sunbeam!'

5-20-11
"Mommy, is Jesus going to put a baby girl in your tummy today?"

McKay says the 'Happy Birthday' banner I put up for Maxwell's birthday is to 'help you sing happy birthday to Max', like we need help remembering the words. :)

5-19-11
"I want Max to get more shots so I can get another toy." McKay gets a toy when we go to the Dr whether it is a visit for him or for Maxwell because McKay is so good.

5-18-11
In the bathtub... 'I pooped bubbles'.

'Look Mommy! Look before I get frustrated'. (I was driving.)

5-16-11
'He ran into the floor' (talking about Maxwell)

5-15-11
The speaker in church was reading the words to 'I Love to See the Temple' so McKay leaned over to Jordan and said "I know that song. I want to sing it for family home evening today." And he remembered when it was time for family home evening.

McKay hums to the songs in sacrament meeting that he doesn't know and is always prepared for the songs to start by finding the correct hymn number.

5-14-11
I asked McKay to repeat a word with the correct pronunciation to which he responded 'I don't say that on Saturday. Or Sunday either'. He will usually repeat the words we help him with but after a few tries he'll say 'I can't say it (insert number) times!"

5-6-11
"When the balloon goes up to the sky, no one can reach it, not even Daddy. But Daddy is really big. He's been growing a long time" (after his balloon from the grocery store went up to the sky)

4-30-11
McKay in an exasperated voice "Why do I keep doing this?" (pushing his chair away from the table) "there we go" (as he pulls it back up)

4-29-11
McKay calls his sheet a 'curtain'. I was really confused when he said he wanted his curtain on him!

After watching 'He Is Risen', McKay told Jordan "They put Him in a tube". (tomb)

4-24-11
McKay memorized the 3rd Article of Faith in 1 week.

4-21-11
McKay and I were at Kohls looking at something for Jordan for Fathers day and I asked him what he thought. He said "That is 99 cents pound. You'd better get something else." I asked him what he'd said and he repeated it. Nothing gets past this boy!

When McKay has an opportunity to shake someone's hand, particularly Max' he says 'Nice ta meet ya!'

4-17-11
McKay looked in the mirror and said "I am a handsome boy." Guess he's heard that a few times. :)

4-15-11
"I am 3 AND 6. After my birthday I'll be 4 and 6 because Buzz is 6." (We have no clue why Buzz Lightyear is 6.)

"I'd better get my running shoes on." (His only other pairs of shoes are his Sunday shoes and sandals but he has to have running shoes just like Daddy.)

4-10-11
When asked to give a talk in primary McKay politely said 'No thanks'

4-8-11
McKay came out of his room shortly after he'd gone to bed. His explanation: "I was worried I didn't give Daddy hugs and kisses".

"The problem is..." fill in, I need a drink of water, I can't find my shoes, I am too tired, I am hungry etc.

"Wait just one minute."

4-1-11
When McKay 'calls' someone on his phone the rings sound like when he calls someone on skype... beeeep beeep... beeeeep beeeeep. And when they don't answer, it is the same beedibileep sound. :)

3-28-11
McKay and Jordan were at Costco enjoying samples during lunch when McKay winked and clicked his tongue at an older woman serving the samples. It totally surprised her and made her day. Jordan was surprised too. McKay enjoyed making her laugh.

3-16-11
McKay calls a night light a flashlight.

3-11-11
I had primary songs playing when McKay came in the room singing along with it. He was excited that he knew the song. It was 'I Will Follow Gods Plan for Me'. He learned it in primary! The primary leaders have all mentioned to me that they love having McKay in Primary because he listens and sings the songs. When he doesn't know the words, he hums. :)

3-10-11
Mommy, everyday is somebody's birthday. Whose birthday is today?

3-7-11
McKay was scooting his table chair over right.next.to.mine. so i asked him "why do you want to sit by me?" He relied " Because you are my best friend ever!"

3-4-11
Whenever we go somewhere, McKay likes to take his phone, keys, wallet, and biaper bag with us. His 'biaper bag' is his shapes pail, his phone is his play phone from Grandma Cardon, and his wallet and keys are usually a couple of shape sorting toys. Guess what I make sure I have before we leave? :)

Happy Birthday Maxwell!

I had fun decorating and wrapping presents the night before Maxwell's birthday. Both boys were excited to see the balloons and have enjoyed playing with them. Max calls the balloons 'lights'.

It didn't take Max long to get the hang of opening his gifts. He enjoyed playing with each toy for a few minutes after he opened it, though his brother was anxious for him to see what was in the next gift. When he opened clothes, he was ready to move on too. :)

May 20th was on a Friday so we waited until Jordan got home to give Maxwell his gifts. We spread out the fun by opening some Friday night and the rest on Saturday morning. He also received packages from Nanna and Papa McCleve, Grandma and Grandpa Cardon, and Grandpa and Grandma Moser. What a lucky little boy!

He loves his new sunglasses and keeps them on for quite a while. When they fall off he says 'hat' and does his best to put them back on.

Max skyped with Aunt Chantelle for his birthday. Nanna and Papa McCleve were in Alaska on a cruise for his birthday so Chantelle remembered all on her own. It probably helps that her birthday is only 2 days after Maxwell's birthday. :)

I love this.

Max enjoys playing with McKay though I DO sometimes have to remind McKay to not put Maxwell's new toys up high where Max can't reach...
Max can mimic the monkey and lion sounds on his new Little People Zoo very well!

Saturday evening we had a barbecue with some friends who moved from Santa Clara to San Diego almost a year before we did and have boys almost the same age as ours. It was fun. Our friends baby was in Max's highchair so I got to be his chair while he ate his cake. Surprisingly I didn't get too dirty!

Jordan was the grill-master-chef and treated us to a feast of wonderful tri-tip roast sandwiches, grilled pineapple and baked beans. Delicious!

I knew there was no way we would eat a whole cake so I decided to make this one easy to share! McKay had fun helping me with the sprinkles. There were dolphins, dinosaurs, cows, stars, bears, and moons & stars. Our Sunday School class enjoyed the extras. :)

At first Maxwell wasn't sure about the cupcake I set in front of him after not letting him touch the several that had been in front of him. After he to got a taste of the frosting (which I must say turned out delicious), he did his best to put the whole cupcake in his mouth at once.

Happy Birthday Maxwell! We love you!
