Drum Roll Please!

After many sleepless nights and much discussion, we FINALLY know what we will be doing for the next few years! We have accepted a job with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. in Northern California. Our condo is also sold as of today (Big day huh?) and we will close at the end of May. We plan on starting work in California June 2.

We will be about 13 hours from both Snowflake and Preston with no vacation time for 2008 (a bit rough since we are used to 3 weeks each year!) so if any of you are out our direction, please stop by! We will know in a couple of weeks what job Jordan will be on and where we should seriously start to look for housing. We will be back to renting again for a while - never thought we'd be doing that - but we are excited for this new chapter in our lives.

Graduation

Friday, April 25, 2008 Jordan graduated from Brigham Young University. His convocation was at 8:00 am so we had to be there by 7. We were all tired but POOR McKAY! He did quite well for getting to bed late, getting up too early and missing naps! Lets just say Saturday was a very good nap day and he has been asleep by 8:30 each night since then! Anyway, everything went well and Jordan didn't trip as he came down the stairs after receiving his 'diploma', though his sleeve did get caught on the railing and caught him by surprise. It was quite chilly that morning and so we all had to wear coats most of the day.

Despite the less than perfect weather (but still better than snowing like the day before) we enjoyed being on the beautiful campus of BYU. I must admit it brought back memories of when I graduated 4 years ago. I had not been in the new Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni Building so we had to check it out. Luckily, we got there during the time when President and Sister Samuelson were meeting students. It is a beautiful building with great views in every direction. I thought it was pretty neat to see Sister Hinckley's chair made it into President Hinckley's building 'so they could be together again' as President Hinckley mentioned when he dedicated his building.

We enjoyed having Jordan's parents in town for his graduation. I especially appreciated having help during the convocation. A baby is one thing but a tired baby... another situation all together. We enjoyed spending time with them and had a good time trying out the Happy Sumo for lunch. McKay liked showing off his cheezy grin and courtesy laugh and we all enjoyed laughing at him! He is such a people person no matter where we go people ask how old he is and comment that he is so cute and a 'little man'. He makes people smile.

Jordan is thrilled to be done with school and we are anxious to be able to make a decision for our future employment. Stay tuned for more information on that subject. (I would say when I would post about it but I would just be wrong... we thought we would know weeks ago!)

Our Funny Little Guy!

Every time McKay does this we crack up. We like to get our dinner ready and then eat while we watch a 'show', meaning either an episode of Andy Griffith or Hogans Heros (we have all seasons of Hogans Heros on DVD & several seasons of Andy... crazy I know but we still laugh each time we watch them!) The table is just the right height for him to peek over the top. Too funny!

McKay loves to play with these rings. They are the first thing he goes to each time he plays with his toys. He crawls ALL OVER the house with these rings...

Or, if he only has one ring another toy will work! Clomp, clomp, clomp all over. I never know where I will find his toys!

Moser Men Make Memories in Moab

April 17 -19th Jordan went 4-Wheeling in Moab with his Dad, Kent Moser, his brother Shawn Moser, and his brothers-in-law Derrick Swaner and Ira Crawford. They had a great time and have plans to repeat the trip next year.

McKay - 9 Months

Today McKay is 9 months old. It is crazy to think how quickly the last few months have passed. The older McKay gets, the more his personality becomes apparent. We love having our sweet little boy in our home.

(Reader beware… I am writing this mostly for myself, to remind me of what my boy is doing at this stage of his life. I understand it is the ramblings of a proud Mommy and do not expect you to read on! )

McKay has two teeth on the bottom that came in February as well as another tooth coming in on the bottom and two coming in on the top. He likes to eat Cherrie O’s and hear them crunch between his teeth. He also likes to use his teeth to clamp down on his spoon in his mouth when he is eating. He thinks he is so funny! In the last week or so he has developed a VERY cheesy smile that people sitting behind us in church or walking behind us in other public places have gotten quite a kick out of. He is interested in everything and has gotten really fast at crawling toward whatever opportunity he sees… such as the front door, or the fridge, or the bathroom. Lucky for us we can hear him excitedly crawling in our direction and try to move a little faster. I can always tell when he is just about to come around the corner to see me in the office or in my bathroom getting ready by how excited he is. So much fun! He also gets very excited when you get down on the floor and play with him – especially crawling with him. He thinks it is so funny. He LOVES his bath time and has started crying every time I take him out… and I even let him play until he starts to splash too much for me! He has also started taking it personally when the bathroom door is shut and he cannot get in. He cries like he is so sad he will never be able to stop crying! He loves helping me with the laundry, especially riding in the basket back to the bedrooms to put the clothes away. I think the ride is too short for him though! He does not like to have his face washed or his hair combed… you have a few seconds before he will start waving his arms, seemingly aimlessly, yet he is quite effective in swatting your hand away. It is actually quite comical. He has also started requiring a toy to keep him entertained during a diaper change or he will literally crawl away, EVEN with me holding on to his ankles. Yes, it is quite a sight to behold. He loves to pull his books off the shelves, to knock all his toys over, especially blocks mom has stacked up (for the purpose of being knocked over of course) and to get into anything that is tight to get to or is usually closed. And I have a feeling this is just the beginning! There is nothing sweeter than the grin he gives when you get him up from sleeping or when he thinks you are funny or when he is just happy to see you. We are so blessed to have our good natured, easy going little guy who keeps us smiling and on our toes. We love our McKay!

Cheap Entertainment

Happy April 16th!

Wow, what a crazy past few months we have had at the Moser house! This was probably one of the worst tax seasons for King & McCleary. We were all at the office until 2 am on the 14^th (even those not involved with taxes were there-helping make copies). Too much work, not enough time, and too many procrastinators. Everyone wanted to file to get their stimulus check in the first ‘batch’ so I think that helped make the last few days worse. I got to bed by about 2:30… Jordan didn’t even hear me come in (he quit waiting up for me a few weeks ago). Somewhere around 6 am I woke up to Jordan trying to get McKay back to sleep and an occasional beeping. Turns out that the battery in the smoke detector in our room decided to die about then and woke up McKay and Jordan. I didn’t hear much, which really says something because I am quite a light sleeper. McKay didn’t go back to sleep so Jordan got up with him and then woke me up around 7:15 so he could go to the gym and school. Talk about trying to peel yourself off the sheets!

Anyone who has ever been in a CPA office on a deadline day, will know it is intense. Don't plan on getting anything done that day... just plan on putting out 'fires'. This deadline day was no different than any other - in fact I honestly think it may have been worse than any other I have experienced. The phone was ringing off the hook with several calls going straight to voicemail and the office was constantly full of people picking up returns. I spent the day doing extensions for people, copying returns, typing extensions letters, answering client questions and doing whatever else I could to help out. I left the office at 6 pm last night to have dinner with my family... a luxury we haven't enjoyed for quite a while. I will have to say though that traffic was a lot worse at 6 pm than it is at midnight!

This tax season I enjoyed my mornings home with McKay while Jordan was gone to school. I usually worked during his morning nap and then left after Jordan got home. Most of my time at the office was spent between the hours of noon and midnight, with a few nights going later. Monday the 14th was my longest day and my longest week was 57 hours... about 20 hours less than last year and almost 20 more than I thought I would work this year. Thank heaven the 15th came when it did... I don't know if we could have handled much more!

I got to spend today with my boys. We went out to lunch and then to a movie and ice cream (we had gift cards for the movie & ice cream... we love mostly (or totally) free dates!). It has been nice being at home and not worrying about working! I am looking forward to the day when I feel 'normal' and healthy again.

Yesterday was Jordan's last class at BYU! He is very excited to be graduating and has been been interviewing with companies in Utah as well as flying to Arizona and California. Our future is yet to be determined...

Our mailbox on Sunday...

Baby Einstein helped keep McKay entertained the morning of the 15th since the darn smoke detector messed up his nap schedule for the day. He gets so excited when we put a dvd or cd into the DVD player no matter what it is. If I put in a cd to listen to music he constantly checks the TV to see if something has come up yet. It really is amazing how quickly he picks up on how things work!
