Hem Pants

As anyone with a body type similar to mine will agree, pretty much any pair of pants you buy you can expect to have to hem them. Well, I have had a few pairs of pants that have needed to be hemmed for anywhere from 2 1/2 years to 1 month just sitting and waiting for my attention (along with everything and everyone else needing my attention these days). They also happen to be pairs of pants that I can now fit into, or will be able to fit into shortly (hopefully). So tonight, I FINALLY DID IT! I kind of cheated and borrowed my neighbors iron & ironing board (yeah, still don't have those... it is okay though cause we don't do much ironing) and used the stitch witchery I bought when I was at Ricks College faced with the same 'hemming pants' problem. It was great because I didn't have to set up my sewing machine and change the bobbin colors etc and I didn't have to try to keep McKay from bothering the peddle when I wasn't ready. And I now have 4 pairs of new pants to wear. Yeah!

I know the feeling. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to sew. So I cut mine off and they just stay like that forever! After a few washes I have to cut off the dangly strings that hang down! ha ha (but I'm totally serious) kelli

What is this stitch witchery? I haven't heard of it. If you can hem pants without having to sew I am definitely interested.

I know the feeling! I recently finished some sewing repair projects too. It's so nice to have some of it done! I don't have an iron or ironing board yet either. After the next time we move that's one of the first things I want to get since I'll hopefully have more space.

Yeah...shed some light on the stitch witchery! I have a pair of temple pants to hem for Jeff...and I'm all for easy fixes!

hemming?... sewing? ...what's that? I'm the nerd who just rolls them up if I need to!

You can get Stitch Witchery at Wal-mart in the sewing section. You just put the stitch witchery between the two layers of fabric and iron it. It is cheap and much faster than sewing! So far it looks like the bond is really good. You can also wash or dry clean the clothes. I am definitely a fan!
