Happy Halloween!

Our family at the ward Trunk or Treat.

McKay decided he wanted to be a Christmas Tree for Halloween. Every time I'd ask him about it, that was his answer. So finally I decided to see what I could come up with. He loved it.

It didn't take him long to get into trick or treating. He'd walk up to someone, say 'HI' and hold out his stocking. They 'd say 'what do you say?' McKay would say 'nanks!' (thanks) Not exactly what they were looking for but he got candy anyway! Our ward and neighborhood are full of empty-nesters so the 'loot' is pretty good. They'd tell him to take a few so he'd grab a handful or two and put it in his stocking. At one point I heard him say. 'I'll take two... I'll take five'. Oh boy! He loved all the attention he got with his unique costume. I got several compliments on it including 'you should sell those!' and 'will you make one for me next year... for me (the mother) to wear?' At the trunk or treat one sister told him she was out of candy so McKay offered her some of his. He is very willing to share his candy.

Once we got home, McKay was our official candy-hander-outer and he loved that too. He said he liked it better than getting candy (except for when he was getting candy). We'd hear a knock at the door and he'd race to the door as fast as he could. Open it and say 'just a second, let me get some candy' and run back to help us get the bowl of candy. Then he'd say 'here' to each person as he dropped a piece (or two or three) in each bag. Most of the time he'd say 'you're welkdom' before they said thank you and parents at the street would comment or laugh from there at his costume. Other older children trick-or-treating liked it too. It was so much fun to watch him having so much fun. He ate a couple of pieces of candy and said he had had enough and was ready for bed.

Here is McKay the day after Halloween. He fell back asleep after sleeping for an hour during quiet time. Practically unheard of. Yes, he was tired!

The phases of McKay's costume. If I ever make another one, will definitely do a few things differently but I am happy with the result. When we got home from purchasing the felt McKay was 'so excited' to start making it and that made it even more fun.

McKay loved carving the pumpkin with Jordan. Anytime we see a pumpkin anywhere it gets noticed and everyone around us knows we see a pumpkin too.

Here is our 'happy munkdin' with oval eyes! The only candle we had was scented so all our visitors were greeted with the aroma of Apple Orchard Pear-adise. :)

Ya, that sure is a cute costume. But I love how you tied the whole family into the same theme. I've never done that, but I love to see families that all fit together.

I just realized we never took any pictures of our pumpkins this year...can't imagine why...there's nothing going on around here.
